A seller will pay a real estate agent a commission, usually about 6% of the home’s sale price. The listing agent then splits the home’s commission with the buyer’s agent. When an owner is selling the house by themselves, known as a for sale by owner (FSBO) transaction, the seller usually offers the buyer’s agent a commission.
